I'm actually quite surprised and please with most of these comments. my first thought of seeing clearly checked out adults is "wonder what number toddler tantrum this is" with the memories of getting side eyed over my then adhd toddlers meltdowns. sometimes i had to remain quiet, not touching him, because he was at the point touching or talking to him made the overstimulation worse and i needed a moment of not dealing with it to collect and calm myself before i helped him.
