i finished Silent Hill 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2 in the same night

did they change things in the remake? I see a lot of people here saying he murdered her out of hate. But in the original you hear Mary saying she wants to die, she wants to no longer suffer and she feels bad for the burden she is for James. Did that get removed or did people here just not play the game?
