I have similar skin and hair and for black honey to work on me I have to have put lots of plain balm on first and then I focus it on the centre of my lips and rub it out with my fingers

I found that the people who were more warmer toned and pale looked better in pink honey and the cooler toned people looked better and black honey

Anyone who suits pink honey very well, will likely find black honey too harsh. It’s not so much about paleness, and more so about undertone. I’m very pale, but my cold undertone leads me to suit black honey perfectly, but I look extremely off with pink honey!
