from what ive heard, dubbin wax will make the leather softer and is more effective at waterproofing! definitely a heavier formula but good to keep in mind especially for darker shoes

This only works if you do it inside the doc. The "smooth leather" is covered with a thin layer of plastic that doesn't let the balsam get in... ;(
