Meeting “the one” might sound like a dream, but for foreign workers in Malaysia, marriage can quickly turn into a legal nightmare. Immigration (JIM) has made it clear: foreigners holding a Temporary Employment Visit Pass (PLKS) are not allowed to marry locals. Doing so will immediately cancel their work permit, and they risk deportation. 🔹 Many cases involve foreign men, especially Pakistanis, marrying local women to stay in Malaysia or run businesses under their wives’ names. 🔹 Immigration has rejected multiple applications and warned locals against being used as nominees in such arrangements. 🔹 Those caught harboring undocumented migrants (PATI) face fines of up to RM10,000, 5 years in prison, and even 6 strokes of the cane. While special consideration can be given if the couple applies to the Home Ministry, most workers marry without approval—leading to revoked permits. Deputy Home Minister Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman stressed: 👉 “Foreigners are legally allowed into Malaysia only to work in designated sectors, not to get married.” #afroasiablog #MalaysiaNews #Immigration #MarriageLaws #PLKS #legalupdate
