@allstylelife: My thermostat just got promoted to wall art 🖼️🙌🏼. I love this easy DIY for hiding those little eyesores around the home. All you need are two @IKEA Rödalm picture frames, a couple of hinges, and magnets to keep the frames closed. I used @Command Brand strips to hang mine—so simple! Would you try this DIY? #ikeahack #diypictureframe #torontolife #torontocreator #diypictureframehack
The sensor, for the thermostat is in the thermostat. You need to cut an opening on the bottom frame to let airflow in. I learned this the hard way after a very expensive visit from the heater guy.

Does your thermostat have sensing issues now or does it stay accurate?

So, the thermostat works by measuring the air temp around it and then adjusts as needed (going on and off). Those of you wanting to come after me and say that plastic covers are used all of the time, they have airflow holes in them. But hey, it’s a cute idea.

Oh dear,🤯these arts and crafts people think it’s ok to cover up a thermostat? How do they expect a thermostat to read the temperature in the room if it’s covered up with a picture?? jeez Louise

I don’t tink is a very good yo cover the temperature sensor on the thermostat that checks the temperature of your house ! Cute but not functional 😏

The amount of people in the comment section that don’t know that you can get external thermostat sensors are hilarious

My HVAC engineer husband just started giving me a lecture. I knew this would trigger him lol. The thermostat can’t be covered is the simple explanation. 💕

Ok, so maybe not the best idea to cover the thermostat but it sure is a winner to keep keys in a spot out of sight!! 👏🥰

If you cut off the top and bottom of the frame so the (not visible looking straight on) the air flow will still get to the thermostat so it doesn’t impact how it works (or as much)!!

Does this not block your thermostats from picking up that it needs to kick on?

As others have mentioned the thermostat needs appropriate air flow to be able to monitor the room temperature. I agree those Honeywell ones are kind of an eyesore. I would suggest getting a nest or ecobee thermostat that looks a bit more modern.
