My grandma use to cook her thanksgiving turkey the day before for 5 hours and let it sit in the oven overnight (with oven off) then refire the turkey in the morning lol I don’t know how my family is still alive

Alton?! Open is not as effective? It's more effective because you are allowing the water to warm. Close the lid and the water stays colder.
