To create the terrifying Uruk-hai army in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, director Peter Jackson took a unique approach by recording a live crowd at a cricket stadium in Wellington, New Zealand. During an innings break in the New Zealand vs. England ODI match in February 2002, Jackson led 25,000 fans in chanting in Black Speech. The chants, which translate to "No life in coldness, in darkness. Here in void, only death," were captured and later used to enhance the soundscape of the Uruk-hai in the film.
