As an American Jew, I was always taught by my grandparents that I am free to be an American Jew as long as Israel exists

Wow. As an American Jew, I always say, "we've gotten too comfortable." This has been a world wide awakening for most Jews. We ARE NEVER SAFE! 😔

Too little is talked about this. Why things are is so important to understand the present. Politicians in the West have so little understanding of history overall.

You are somewhat mistaken about the coexistence of Muslims and Jews in the Middle East, North Africa, Iran, and Turkey. The real disruption came with colonization, which destroyed the balance that had existed in all these regions. It was not a perfect or ideal balance, but it was a very long-lasting one.

Over 70% of Israelie Jews descend from the Middle East. During the Ottoman Empire and before radical Islam, they lived throughout the Middle East. With the fall of the OE, and rise of more radicalism, most of them, if they were able to survive long enough, made it to Israel.

That resonates deeply with me. I see our people as one whose collective identity is defined by resilience, survival, and, above all, solidarity. I am profoundly proud of our willingness to stand shoulder to shoulder, to never abandon one another, and to view the fate of every Jew as intertwined with our own. To me, this reflects a profound moral beauty, a society whose instinct is to protect, to rescue, and to cherish life as sacred.

I don’t think the 1920s is the dividing line. Plenty of American Jews came after the 1920s. But otherwise interesting thoughts!!

Many American Jews today are descendants of those who lived thru The Holocaust so it’s not appropriate to say today that American Jews escaped what the Israeli Jews endured.
