@rethinking_ismailism: Untold Sultan Mohammed Shah Aga Khan Story #ismaili #Agakhan #fyp #trending #shia @Ismaili One Jamat @reemaukani @Thinking islam
Yes, mutta existed in Arabia before Islam and was briefly tolerated in the earliest period. But Islam came to reform family and marriage into bonds of faith, responsibility, and permanence. That’s why Allah restricted marriage to permanent unions (Qur’an 4:3), and the Prophet ﷺ later forbade mutta for good. Neither the Prophet ﷺ nor Hazrat Ali (RA) ever entered a mutta marriage. It was abolished because it contradicts the very spirit of family, responsibility, and deen. So no matter how one tries to justify it, SMS’s mutta marriages go against the Qur’anic model of marriage and the Prophet’s Sunnah.

What’s wrong with this? The holy prophet had many wives. In Islam marriage is a contract. If you’re not happy in the marriage then you’re to dissolve the marriage and marry who makes you happy.

respectfully, it’s not really that black and white. Mutʿah was around during the Prophet’s (pbuh) time especially in early moments like military campaigns and only later did different schools split on it. Sunnis generally said it was abrogated, but Shia fiqh (including Ismailis) still allow it under certain rules.
So yeah, while the Prophet’s (pbuh) wives were all permanent, mutʿah is part of legit Islamic legal diversity, not just some “pleasure thing.” If Sultan Muhammad Shah (pbuh) practiced it, you gotta see it in that context.
