most people don't understand what ground work really is or how to do it. its not just desensitizing, sure that's a part of it but that can be way over done and you end up with a dull horse that doesn't want to move out when you get on. most groundwork should be teaching ques that you can build upon when you start riding.

Preach. People will "desentize" till their horse's eyes glaze over but won't put the effort into learning to ride a little better... starting those dull colts sucks sometimes because they don't understand why suddenly the expectations are turned upside down.

Eh. I think it’s like anything else. If you do it right, I don’t think you can have too much ground work. Most people don’t do it right.
