That's the symbol. Not the literal element. The literal element is that the day they ate, their eternal life ended, as they were cut off from the tree of life. It's both literal and symbolic.

Cool take on the fulfillment of Gods word. What’s your thoughts on it being Gods day not man’s? Assuming 1000 years to man is a single day to God, so Adam surely died that same day (930).

Interesting take. My take on Genesis and the creation of Earth has me wondering if God created Earth with the idea that earthquakes could happen whenever. And same goes for other natural disasters. Did God create that process even before Adam and Eve were put on earth or after Adam and Eve were kicked out of Eden? All those natural disasters always kill and harm people indiscriminately. So if God created that process what does that action say about God?

Counterpoint: When God speaks in Genesis 1-3, He tends to use strange language. He says ‘Let Us make (Man, Mankind… take your pick) in Our image, after Our likeness’ We do not look like God. He said Adam would die, Adam did not die. But God is not lying. God is Spirit. Our Spirit was created in His Image. Adam’s Spirit did die on that day. Christ’s sacrifice brings a quickening to the Spirit of all who believe, yes? A quickening. Jesus brings the dead back to life.
