"imagine a system with lots of cores that are simple and general purpose" yes those are called microcontrollers you find them anywhere you cant fit a gpu or cpu

capitalism is just road tolls and that's why its tech will fail eventually and perform worse out the gate.

Ending CUDA or its proprietary status would be awesome! NVIDIA has gotten to the point where antitrust/antimonopoly measures are needed! Wall Street won’t like it, though 😅

Many core CPU with reconfigurable ALUs was a thing 10ish years ago, no? I thought it was abandoned because heterogenous compute is much more efficient (given you can afford the memory overhead)?!

riscv is just a hardware level API. SIMD and GPUs are needed because CPUs have been optimized for sequential processing. parallel computing is a different beast entirely and needs dedicated hardware. Sequential CPUs have limits and there's pretty much nothing that can be done to "just make it better" without redesigning hardware for specific tasks.

So why does NVIDA have a 4 T market cap. Wouldn’t the next Deepseek release if this is better than H100 be better than anything OAI Claude or grok has produced

Idk. X86 instruction sets were never gonna be parallel powerhouses. It makes more sense to use ARM and ASICs such as in PCIE accelerators

Great video. I do want to make an argument for highly specialized riscv cores (ASIP, application specific processors). They are getting really popular for AI on IoT devices for instance (cont...)
