@hypermobile.worko: Its not that one group is more important than the other, but the recognition that hypermobile individuals need something different. Instructions and cuing for hypermobility should be drastically different. Our bodies are operating under a totally different circumstance. It only makes sense that run-of-the-mill cues don’t work well #hypermobile #ehlersdanlos #workout #hypermobility

but WHY do we need this? like how are non-hypermobile bodies working that ours aren't? they're just automatically engaging all these muscles?

This is the kind of workout help I need! It takes me so long to do reps because of how hard my brain has to work to make sure I’m feeling it in the right places and holding correct form!

what if my knees tell me "no don't do that" before I get even close to the right depth?

This is fascinating to me because my autistic interception issues would throw all this out the window, what do you mean activate specific muscles idk how to do that 💀😂

For hyper mobility we have to learn how to just move around basically. I took a course online for hypermobility and she spent a lot of time showing us how to breathe, relax muscles we tense to guard our joints, activate the proper muscles we need for movement. It is just so crazy how we grow up activating all the wrong muscles and not knowing we are hurting ourselves, so many of us out there walking around like this and it is just going completely ignored irl. We just got called “double jointed”. The only one of my coaches who ever corrected my form was my cheerleading coach, and that is because “it doesn’t look good to judges”. Lol

its why I do tabatas instead of counted reps. I can focus on my posture and form more then counting the reps. my chiro says try just to flex/ squeeze the target muscle. then do the exercise. you should feel that same/similar flex.

I’ve recently been diagnosed hyper mobile by my pain physio because when I went to squat my knees went in on them (plus sublaxions happening with other joints) but now I have to use a resistance band around my knees so I know how to push out while squatting!

Gosh always wondered as my knees wobble from side to side as I bend down and get back up again to kegs straight.

Working out is a sensory nightmare, it’s hard enough to do it. The fact that we have so much more to think about and know to do it safely and effectively is frustrating. It just feels like another barrier.

This actually just explained to me why I never feel anything with squats. I’m rotating out. I would have never known without this. Thank you!!!

Honestly that language doesnt work on me, I cant tell my muscles to activate or make them activate. Im trying to undo 45 years of basically doing everything wrong and its sooooooo weird cause I really have no idea what Im doing and sometimes the language is really overwhelming. I still cannot squat, I cant figure it out at all.
