Apple and Sage Honey-Butter pheasant. Yes, you read that right, and yes it’s delicious. It gets cold out there wandering around through tall piles of cover trying to bust birds and harvest pheasants this time of year, but each time I make this recipe, I’m reminded why I do it. (Big thanks to @mphi_inc for all the work they do that makes this recipe possible). Ingredients: - Pheasant (ideally a limit of em…) - Apples (I like honey crisp or a green apple to offset the sweetness) - Onions - Garlic - Fresh Sage - Honey - Butter - Spices (onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pep, paprika) - Rice (not going to tell ya how to make it just do your best, that’s all any of us can ever do without a rice cooker) Steps: - Harvest a pheasant - Process the bird, skinned and whole - pre heat oven to 400*F - rough chop onion, garlic, and apple, stuff inside cavity of pheasant with fresh sage and garlic - julienne onion and thinly slice apple - toss in a pan with some olive oil and sage, cook down until soft - add in a knob of butter and honey (salt/pep to taste) - bring to a simmer until it begins to thicken up again - place bird in oven (cook until 165 internal, coating at least once with your apple and sage honey-butter sauce) - remove bird from oven, finish with more sauce/apples and some fresh sage - become everyone’s favorite outdoorsmen for making the best dish they’ve ever had ever. Try this and tag me in the results! Happy harvesting and happy cooking!! #Catchcleancook #pheasantshooting #pheasantcooking #outdoorsmen #foryou
