When one side calls the other communists and groomers, they are half lying/projecting. Some of us are actually communists. When the other calls them yahtzees and fash, it’s because we know the definitions to those words and are accurately labeling them.

I don't believe there is even a confusion around this. People on the right in America know that they openly promote and celebrate violence, often glibly and at the expense of vulnerable people. When they contend this claim, they do it as though they are just trying to throw whatever arguments they can together to shallowly "win" a debate that gives them cover to continue the crusade they know they are waging: violently restoring the social hierarchy of Confederacy.

When people like Stephen Miller are quoting Joseph Goebbels in public speeches then yeah, it is appropriate to call the Nazis. Comparing what the left does to the right and saying they both need to change their behavior is the kind of centrist BS that causes real harm. The two sides are in no way equivalent.

Part of the problem though is often times calling the “nazis”, lfascists”, and “biggots” are accurate descriptions. I will admit that some people blanket use the terms and shouldn’t, but a LOT of the time it is just accurate.

"Communist" is not remotely similar to "Nazi." The latter is much more inciting. There are self-declared Marxists all through academia and among activist groups. If you think that accusation is anywhere near as icendiary as "Nazi" then you're not being intellectually honest.

I think it’s intellectually dishonest to say that calling someone a communist has the same rhetoric weight as calling someone a “Yahtzee”. One is clearly meant to incentivise violence towards a group through decades of normalization and the other is a bygone fear mongering. No one is rounding up communists and calling for violence on them anymore. “Punch yahtzees” is a well known and socially accepted call to violence now. I don’t think either of these are hate speech- and I’m not really convinced “hate speech” is something to try to censor to begin with- but, it’s good to keep in mind that these things are not equal in effect.
