English used to have this too, but it’s mostly forgotten and only used in a religious context which ironically makes people it’s thou that is formal, when it’s the other way around lol thou(subject)/thee(object) = ты, ye(subject)/you (object) = вы. But royal we is still used by the British monarchy in formal situations.

this is a big help, but how important is it to get it right? in german if you mess up and you call someone older than you, in the informal "you" it is basically treated as a crime and you are going to language jail because it is very disrespectful
