@vuvuceramics: Are new beginnings possible? Nature says yes! The cycle of leaves is such a profound example of renewal. As autumn leaves change color and gracefully fall, I look at this as a symbol of letting go, shedding the past. As trees go into a state of rest, they remind us of the importance of looking inwards, a time of reflection. New leaves will come soon, continuing the cycle of transformation and renewal. We can always let go, change, transform and adapt as well - life always has the potential to be new again- leaves are a beautiful reminder of that. I was thrilled when I took these ceramic leaf dishes out of the kiln and saw the finished outcome. For me, the warm colors of this leaf capture what I see in the changing leaves of autumn. I had originally planned to add some gold sparkle to the leaves themselves but the moment I took them out of the kiln I felt they were perfect as they were, complete just like this. I absolutely love the interplay of rich oranges and reds and yellows and the perfect satin finish of glaze. And to see each one come out slightly different but equally beautiful, it reminded me of collecting fall leaves as a kid, each leaf different as a fingerprint and all equally beautiful. This kind of pottery requires multiple firings Each dish is made by rolling a single maple leaf into soft ceramic clay. #autumnvibes #leafart #colorfulart #watercolorpainting #natureart
