Polish families do this with money at weddings too, I’ve also been to ones where the bride was “kidnapped “ and ransom money was collected or the groom was “arrested “ and bail was collected. But my favorite wedding was a picnic where everyone brought a side and the wedding party supplied the meats and beverages and we played softball and frisbee and then danced on the pitch.
