Is it actually hypomania or is she just happy and finds joy in spending bc she doesn’t have happiness at home? What trauma has she experienced in her life? What led to her being unhappy in her marriage? Are there any medical factors impacting this? Postpartum, hormone levels, vitamin levels, autoimmune disorders, etc. Coming from someone that had the bipolar diagnosis thrown on me at 19 this is the type of questions I’d be asking before I’d EVER give a SMI diagnosis. It’s not like depression or anxiety. These follow you for life, and impact you in so many ways. Clinicians need to get all the facts before slapping a life long diagnosis after a 30 min conversation that can easily be skewed to fit the motive they/the person has about a diagnosis.
