As a person that lives 30 minutes from this spot there's been things reported here for so long among locals. My grandfather used to tell me stories of stuff he'd personally seen and heard in the mountains.

In real panic, people usually blurt names or expletives (“a deer!”, “oh my God!”) rather than a tidy category like “that’s not human.” Repeating the exact line twice also feels a bit… scripted.

ive seen a creature like that before in Ashville, NC. but i wouldnt call it a "skin walker". skin walkers are very specific to certain areas and also more so have to do with indigenous people. (i watched a video on yt a few years back w an indigenous person educating on the subject of skinwalkers)
