have you played Ion Fury? I think it's in line with what you are doing. it uses Duke Nukem 3d's engine but it came out in 2019.

love the look of your pickup! the only difference from bolt guns pickup have the bloom effect. maybe adding a edge highlight to yours will make it more vizually distinct. but it looks fantastic either way.😃

The tribute to bliss picture is really a great touch, you could easily have different zones for different distros too so it's quite scalable weird enough
