@grand_ole_evan: I’m not saying this from a soapbox - we all have our hobbies and no I don’t know every one of my local government representatives. BUT just imagine if even a FRACTION of the energy and resources that went into sports instead went into things that actually affect our lives. I just wish people - particularly men - tended to their duties a bit more before obsessing over players who couldn’t care less about the things that affect everyday people.

A bit tangential, but what I also find ironic about sports is that people use them as an excuse to eat pounds of food, get wasted, and sit on a couch all day. Basically the polar opposite of the athletes' habits
