in the UK the NMC new nursing standards require me tal health nursing students to meet the same proficiencies as General nurses plus learn mental health stuff on top that's why mental health is classed as a specialism

I heard the nursing license is by state. There are some states you can practice in as an RMN, NY, Florida, California, Texas. Yes you need to apply to that state specific license. Get your transcripts checked, sit the NCLEX which is computer based and I’m sure with practice you can pass it. I don’t think you have to go back to do general nursing.
