I remember in 1993 as my daughter was being born, my daughters father said he doesn’t want the husband stitch.

I'm a labor and delivery nurse. if a dad jokes about an extra stitch, I say "you must be very small to feel the need to request an extra stitch"or something similar.

My dad had no idea. The only reason mom didn’t get one was because the resident stitching her wouldn’t numb her when she said it hurt, doc gave a wink wink nudge nudge and a truly disgusting comment to my clueless dad, tried to keep stitching, and mom kicked him in the face.

had my first in 1991. had to be cut in 94 when I had my 2nd because of the extra stitches in 91. I have bad scarring because of it and had pain for years

I had my second child at 15 I was given this stitch and didn't know it until I had my 3rd kid at 23 and my Dr after my delivery said she wasn't going to replace that stitch

Wen I had my son my bf told the doctor ur not going to give her anything she doesn’t need right wen the doctor asked what he meant he looked at him and said “im talking about the “husband stitch” the doctor which is the same one I have for this pregnancy told him “no I would never do that even if the man asks”

Can you have it put in your paperwork that you don’t want more stitching then needed? Then that way they have to prove it was necessary or else you can sue? I’m not sure on legal matters

Scar tissue is NOT flexible. A child’s speculum was too painful for me and yes, it took YEARS of manual stretching😖

my first born I was a single mother ( ex was abusive with me ) I went to hospital to give birth ( I was homeless and didn't get insurance until the very end of pregnancy ) they called the dr on call to help with delivery, with no epidural the dr told me it takes extra strength to to scream and yell with every contraction, he nicked my baby in the head half an inch from his soft spot on his head to break my water and then gave me the husband stitch without my consent. that was 19 years ago. everything is still painful 😒 😔

I had a female midwife when I gave birth and I was still worried about it, so I had my mom watch the midwife do my stitching, let me mind you, I was 16 when I gave birth.

the doctor that delivered my son asked my sons father (we were separated by this point for months) if he wanted me to get one. And I didnt hear it as I was enjoying my golden hour. My mom was smart to wait until the next day to tell me. Cuz I would have kicked the man... literally. my epidural had ran its course by the time I got my stitches and I could feel 2 out of 3.
