this is a huge back and forth issue in the transfem community. Those who don't pass well are dehumanized by desexualization, then don't realize how harmful it is when they sexualize those who pass enough to be dehumanized by sexualization

I'm ace, so I'm not even interested, but the desexualization of me really fucked me up. Still struggling with the sense of inherent worthlesssness and the feeling of being so ugly that not even the jackasses who harass girls will look at me. I shouldn't want that, I don't want that, it's awful and dehumanizing, but... Idk, I guess it's dehumanization in the opposite direction.

not in most cases but in some, this feels like it's tied to infantilization. If we agree that kids are often dehumanized, we can see how someone being infantilised can lead to them being dehumanized especially by their peers
