Love the story behind this place. Hundreds of banded hound sharks 🐶🦈 surround you on this amazing and unique dive @ito_bommie_chiba_japan founder helped protect this species more than 15 years ago when these sharks were getting caught in fishing nets. They would break the nets, die, or be killed so for many years diving in cold water and ripping currents he took so much effort to gather the bycatch and after years effectively lured or rescued and released them in a safer place where they now concentrate when they move into the area. Now people have come from all around Japan and the world to enjoy time with these cute “baby sharks.” It is such a fun and exciting shark dive and without any worry of any serious consequential loss of appendage or life if you were to get a little nibble from these little sharks 😂 making it a perfect intro to shark diving too. They are not shy of people and so at times you need to gently redirect them, along with stingrays (the pancake sharks) who can be so sassy 😂 I had a stingray try to eat my hair 😂 Then there’s the groupers, yellow tail, birds, all interactive 😍and I got to add another species to my shark list: The Japanese angel shark 😇🦈🪽 This individual was saved by the founder of Ito Bommie when a fisherman called and he payed to keep her alive and relocate her. Now she enjoys about 6 bycatch fish a day and can swim away anytime 💕. These sharks are not netted in and so they move in and out of the area seasonally but follow each other into this safer area more than others now and the surrounding fishing community knows who to call if they accidentally catch a little shark. Love this shark saving effort that has built a thriving fun community around these little sharks, fostering care for the protection of sharks, and helping to protect them from being killed. 📍@juansharks and I came back with a LOT of knives with the intention to find and save that entangled shark or others further south, but the weather didn’t allow so we’ve spent more time with these cute little sharks, wonderful community, and just did a little beach clean up nearby ❤️🦈 Dove with @msdiving_official & @itsuki_p4l 🫧🤿🦈 #sharks #scuba #shark #avi
