@brush.of.skye: The process behind the madness… THE IDEA - I wanted the paintings to be a collection of the same dragon, mid flight, doing different actions. THE INSPIRATION- despite being quite severely dyslexic, I really love to read. Reading for me is when the spark of magic begins, the words move me so much and the ideas just flood in. There is nothing more gratifying than flipping to the last page and finishing something in its entirety. The feeling of grief when a character you adored, dies. The joy you feel when the protagonist finally achieves that goal they’ve been chasing the entire book. One of the books that inspired these paintings and gave me that moment of enlightenment is rebecca Yarros - Fourth Wing THE CHALLENGE - When planning this collection, I knew I wanted to challenge myself to a limited palette, making them cohesive. whilst they are separate paintings, I made them in mind to be together. So throughout all four paintings, I solely used: medium magenta, ultramarine blue, brilliant purple, titanium white, alizarin crimson. The only exception to this rule was the teeny tiny use of cadmium- free yellow medium for the eyes.
