I feel worse for the people who actually live in Jamaica! They have to stay and figure out how to live after. Travelers CHOSE to go during hurricane season.

Those people on vacation will get to leave and go back to their homes.. the locals are stuck there FOREVER and about to lose EVERYTHING. I could not care less about the people on vacation.

I appreciate the empathy for the travelers, but also it’s important to remember to have empathy for people who actually live there. Jamaica has a hard time recovering from past hurricanes— travelers get to go home after this, residents don’t.

It is YOUR responsibility to be aware of weather, culture, language, wildlife and customs when visiting a new location. Inside or outside America. A choice was made to ignore the weather and overwhelm the locals.

The people who live there are about the lose everything. The tourists can go home but what about the people who have nowhere else to go. I hope everyone over there will be ok.

To put it into perspective, Jamaica is roughly the size of Connecticut. There’s going to be catastrophic loss. I pray for all who will be affected. This is truly terrifying!

yes it's scary but I feel like they are kinda built for this. like if I lived in an area that regularly has hurricanes I'd build something to get through the storm. I hope they have safe places already prepared that are built to withstand this storm

As a Floridian sometimes the fear numbs us we can only laugh because we know our impending fate.

The tourists had a choice to go. (No, not blaming them. They don’t deserve to be harmed either.) But the locals are the ones who face not only death or injury but also complete decimation of home and infrastructure.
