In case people are confused, the shining takes place within a sort of shared universe, not the original 80s movie but the book and welcome to derry is probably the first King adaptation to actually do that or even so much as have another character from another story show up. The kids from IT have some form of the shining or something similar, but not the ones from the theater that's clear though the turtle is a reference to ITs polar opposite Maturin.

The Stanley Hotel from The Shining is a entity like IT.. but it takes the form of a hotel to trap people inside and feast off their fears and eventually driving them mad to the point they end their own life thus trapping their souls forever.

In the book, Hallorann was a cook in the Black Spot. He was a soldier stationed in Derry. The Black Spot was a club for the black soldiers. It was burned down by the legion of white decency. He’s the driver.
