You need someone to show you personally. They call it out tho, uptown, downtown, Brooklyn bound, to Coney Island, etc etc that should help you understand whether its going north south east

It’s a fantastic app! You’ll go the wrong way for atleast a few months. It’s fine. Which ever stop out of all those lines is the closest (duh) use that one. Unless you have time to see what’s around while walking to your destination

Google Maps or Apple Maps!!! Plug in where you want to go and then click on subway instead of car and it will show you everything until you learn it!

Always look up your trip on goggle when you don't know where you're going ( I like it for walking directions once off the train although sometimes the directions aren't always the best.

Citymapper is my fave app for navigating the subway. And always double check if you are going uptown or downtown every step of the way. Like at the entrance, going down to the platform, and before getting on the train

Why so many letters = there are express and local trains, and they don’t take the same paths the entire way. So just figure out where you need to be and look at exactly which trains go there.

It takes time and you WILL get it- probably riiight around the year mark you’ll start to feel better/confident.. try using the Transit App too I love usng it for timing purposes

Hang a subway map in your apartment and study it. My RA in college told us this and it works. Now I know places by their subway, not cross streets

Read the signsss different letters that go the same way but in different areas so you can be left on your avenue but 20 blocks away😭
