my players are super excited for this, however one of the ways I keep order at my tables is a simple "if it's in your toolbox, it's in mine" rule. shortly they'll be dealing with the Thayan mages allies with the Cult of The Dragon.... circle magic you say? say less.

"that's terrifying!" so are like five fifth level spellcasters in your average dnd setting. honestly I'd prefer they be spreading their spells out over a crazy range, rather than hitting me and everything around me with 40d6.

Helped a DM build a system for a game (that ended up not happening due to drama) similar to this called coven magic. Three members can combine their magic to extend the duration, reduce material cost, or upcast a spell. Which was going to be the bbeg's plan to circumvent the 9th level cap and make themselves an Archfey or minor deity.
