I usually reserve sporty pants for completely sporty looks that I wear around the house or while exercising (which means I’m not wearing them as much in outfit videos). But I had some time this weekend so I challenged myself to style them in not (only) sporty ways and these are the outfits I came up with! What I learned is that nylon pants are pretty easy to dress up (some of them literally read as dress pants to me - the shiny navy pair remind me so much of the winslow Tibi nylon trousers). They’re also a great alternative to my more barrel-shape linen/cotton pants—these give a straighter silhouette as opposed to a more billowy one. They’re still just as comfortable, though (maybe even more comfortable). Some of them give a wide-leg shape, but I find that it’s a more relaxed look than, say, a wide-leg pair of jeans that can sometimes feel too rigid. Try just wearing whatever you would typically wear on top and then instead of your typical bottoms, throw on a sporty pair and see if it works. And as far as shoes, play around with sneakers for a more sporty look overall, a ballet flat or small heel to make the look skew feminine, or a loafer if you want masculine but not sporty. My favorite combinations are the ones where there’s a sweater on top. I think it’s because of the contrast in fabrics; wearing a similar-fabric top wouldn’t feel balanced to me, but the wool texture creates tension which makes an outfit interesting. What’s your favorite look? #styleinspo #tomboylook #casualoutfitideas #outfitinspo
