I work (worked I guess) at sonder. We were completely blindsided by this. We are shutting everything down as of tomorrow at 9:00am. Thousands out of jobs as well.

This is on Sonder, they are toast. Laid everyone off too. But Marriott should be automatically rebooking people like they would any other walk situation.

It's sonders fault. Not Marriott. You don't have a direct reservation with Marriott. Sonders took your money.

The people defending Marriott, a company with $25 BILLION in revenue annually, is what is wrong with our country.

I would do a credit card charge back as asap. if the company is bankrupt there will be no way to get compensation

Sonder just went bankrupt, really unfortunate timing, but it’s not exactly Marriott’s fault.

Marriott could’ve done the right thing and honored existing reservations at the very least. Very bad look for them in the age of social media.

Wow, I had a similar situation with Hyatt x Mr and Mrs Smith. Guess what, Hyatt honored our stay. Marriot, do better.

I never go through third parties, I'll pay a little more, and go through the actual company.

Just spoke to Marriott customer service - nothing new to report but he assured me we would be refunded - I said we were concerned and I didn’t know if I needed to dispute the charge.

as someone who’s works in hospitality i’m confused as to why they’re canceling reservations and kicking people out my hotel ended a partnership with some companies but we still honored the remaining reservations bc why tf wouldn’t we especially if we’ve already gotten someones money

Just happened to my family as well. We are supposed to go to Orlando for Thanksgiving. They offered to give our money back but now we are going to have to scramble to find a new reservation that’s comparable to what we had. We even had the insurance which I don’t think even matters!

you can make a report to the attorney General because that's fraud. doesn't matter what their business deals are if you've prepaid. it sucks because it's not instant but they will help you
