Agreed! They served a purpose decades ago. Today, teachers, nurses and municipal employees do not benefit from Unions as their dues go into their leads pockets. Unions make employees lazy

I think they negotiate contracts/jobs for their union workers. That way they maximize the number of workers who stay working and guarantee the wages throughout that contract.

my electrical union did that in 2020 election. made us all mad. but they do help us get better pay, regualte mandatory overtime, better benefits and vacation with than without them. also great for mediation in disputes with employers.

um, mot to be a killjoy, but labor unions need to be properly designed to achieve the results that the union members desire - and none that I've heard of actually are. what's worse is that the people who design organizational systems of people are...management. also, "designing an organization" is a combination of words that very few seem to understand. what unions need is for someone to come up with an instruction book on how to make & run a union, and that will probably need to be a non-union person. hope this clarifies the headache. 😎

In 2008 our Teamster local reps told us to vote for Obama, he was pro union and for the working man. Of course, I didn't, I knew it was all BS. Within a few years our health insurance premiums went through the roof because of the ACA. Our health and welfare fund went bankrupt so we had to go on the company's policy. We went from having the absolute best health insurance plan at no cost to us, to a plan that cost several hundred for less coverage and high deductibles. Yay for Obama- care.

one of the reasons companies and agencies do want unions is to keep a cooperation with workers and company.. like if. department just all calls out sick to stick it to em. now too often they are not living up to expectations

My dad’s best friend was the president of a teamsters union for trucking company & unions are most definitely corrupt & embezzle the union dues at every opportunity they have. If you’re not high enough in the hierarchy in the union you get little to no benefit. They will not help if it cuts into any money they can make or scheme they have going on.

I’m in a union and had no choice when I got my job. Unions leaders are using our dues for politicians and not their members. It is a fraud and they have over stayed their welcome. I was a union steward and was lied to and I stopped my stewardship.

my son is in the electrical union and he's well taken care of. I do hear that the uppers in his line of work are for Trump but the office and middle management are more liberal. I've asked him the same questions!

I turned down a job at a nuclear power plant because I would have been forced to pay union dues whether I joined the union or not. I have been able to negotiate my own salary and benefits. I don’t need someone’s help.

As a unionized railroader I feel very powerless in this country. Biden screwed us last contract and campaigned on a win stopping us from striking. I pay a $100 a month for my union dues and I don’t feel represented.
