People are acting like The Boring Company is the first business in American history to ever get cited for wastewater or OSHA violations. Companies across the U.S. get fined for discharge issues all the time including refineries, manufacturers, food plants, energy companies, and utilities. Phillips 66, Tyco, Campbell Soup, Thames Water, and many others have had similar or worse violations involving untreated water or wastewater discharge. It does not mean they are evil or intentionally trying to poison cities. It means regulations are strict, mistakes happen, and the system catches them.
Anyone who has actually worked with OSHA or environmental compliance knows inspections are tough, and sometimes a violation comes down to something as simple as one person forgetting a step, missing a reading, or not doing a task correctly. It is not always some intentional or catastrophic wrongdoing.
But because it is Elon Musk, people jump straight to the most dramatic conclusion possible. They do not react this way when any other company has the exact same issue. The story only goes viral because people already dislike him and are eager to believe anything negative attached to his name. The comments prove it. People do not even read the details. They just follow whatever narrative fits their bias. 🙄
