I recreated Luffy’s Meat on the Bone 🍖✨ Whew! Probably my biggest meal yet 😅 I was super nervous about making this recipe because I’ve never cooked a turkey drumstick before but despite all the mishaps, it was still super juicy and tasty! You could imagine my panic when I realized that the drumstick wouldn’t fit in my Dutch oven 😂 I wonder if I should do another spin off of this dish? 🍖 Luffy’s Pirate Feast Servings: 2–3
Cook Time: ~2 hrs 10 min
Equipment: Stainless steel pan or dutch oven, foil, pot for potatoes, oven thermometer, meat thermometer (recommended!) 🥩 Luffy’s Meat on a Bone Ingredients * 1 turkey drumstick (~2 lbs) * 2 tbsp hoisin sauce * 2 tbsp ketchup * 2 tbsp honey (or brown sugar) (to taste) * 1 tbsp soy sauce * 1 tsp rice vinegar * 2 garlic cloves, smashed * 1 tsp fresh ginger, sliced * 1 tsp smoked paprika 🌫️ * 1 ½ cups chicken stock Finishing Glaze: * 1 tbsp hoisin * 1 tbsp ketchup * 1 tsp honey * ¼ tsp smoked paprika 🌫️ Method 1. Prep (5 min) * Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). * Mix finishing glaze (hoisin + ketchup + honey + smoked paprika). 2. Sear Drumstick (0:00–0:10) * Heat 1–2 tbsp oil in stainless steel pan or dutch oven. * Sear drumstick until golden on all sides, ~8–10 min. Remove. * In same pan, sauté garlic + ginger. * Stir in hoisin, ketchup, honey, soy sauce, vinegar, smoked paprika. * Pour in chicken stock, whisk. Return drumstick, spoon sauce over. 3. Covered Braise (0:10–1:25) * Cover pan tightly with foil (dome slightly). * Bake on middle rack for 1 hr 15 min, turning once halfway at 0:50. * Chef’s Note: I recommend using an oven thermometer + meat thermometer. For my rendition, the center reached temperature without needing extra braise time. 4. Uncover & Roast (1:25–1:50) * Remove foil (steam plume). * Baste drumstick with braising liquid. * Roast uncovered 20–25 min, basting every 10 min. 5. Final Glaze (1:50–2:00) * Brush drumstick with finishing glaze. * Notes**: I let the juices settle for 10–15 min, then basted and set the pan on the top rack under low broil for ~3 minutes. Perfect glossy finish without overcooking. 6. Rest & Serve (2:00–2:10) * Rest 10 min, tented with foil if you broiled immediately after roasting. * Drizzle reduced pan sauce over or serve on the side. 🥔 Soy Butter Mashed Potatoes Ingredients * ½ lb Yukon Gold potatoes (2 medium) * ½ lb Russet potatoes (1 large) * 3 tbsp unsalted butter * ¼–½ cup warm milk * 1 tbsp soy sauce * ½ tsp sesame oil (optional) * Salt + pepper, to taste * Garnish: scallions or crispy garlic chips Method 1. Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender (~15 min). 2. Drain, mash with butter until smooth. 3. Stir in warm milk, soy sauce, sesame oil. 4. Taste, adjust seasoning. 5. Garnish with scallions or garlic chips. 🥬 Optional Garlic-Soy Asparagus Stir-Fry Ingredients * 1 bunch asparagus, trimmed, cut into 2-inch pieces * 1 tbsp neutral oil * 2 garlic cloves, thinly sliced * 1 tsp soy sauce * 1 tsp oyster sauce (or extra soy) * ½ tsp sesame oil * Sesame seeds for garnish Method 1. Heat oil in wok/skillet. Add garlic, stir-fry 20 sec. 2. Toss in asparagus, cook 2–3 min until bright green. 3. Add soy + oyster sauce, toss to coat. 4. Finish with sesame oil + sesame seeds. #animefood #anime #vtuber #cookingvtuber #FoodTok
