@_emmagilligan_: MEASURING PROGRESS & YOUR CYCLE 🔄🩸 ⠀⠀ 📣 LISTEN UP ladies ‼️ the scales will likely fluctuate up before your period BUT this does NOT mean you’ve gained fat! It makes me sad to think of so many of you feeling like you’re not making progress because of this number when you most likely are So I wanted to do this post to help you understand where you are in your cycle and the reason for fluctuations as this can help with reframing your mindset towards this👇🏼 If you feel comfortable enough using the scales to track your progress I would advise the following: ➡️ weigh yourself everyday at the same time (first thing on a morning after the toilet and before any food or drink) ➡️ make a note of your weight (don’t let this number define your worth whilst you’re at it 😘) ➡️ then take an average for each week ➡️ keep doing this weekly then after your period compare your week 5 to your week 1, your week 6 to your 2, week 7 to week 3, week 8 to week 8 and so on and so on Comparing your weight week on week is not an accurate reading of your results as we hold onto more water weight all over our bodies in the luteal phase before our periods arrive so we’re going to be heavier than the previous week because water has weight BUT 👇🏼 🌟this doesn’t mean you’ve gained body fat 🌟 Because the scales weigh so much more than just body fat and ultimately that’s what you want to lose not just weight. And as always it’s SO important to look at lots of factors (eg photos, measurements, clothes fitting, energy levels, strength progress etc) on your journey to see the bigger picture, not just focus on the scale number alone 🙅🏼♀️ Our hormones fluctuate throughout our cycle all the time so it’s important recognise that and not let it get you down thinking your hard work has gone to waste because it’s not the case if you’re being consistent 💪🏼 This is something I look at with all my clients so if it’s something you need help with then fill in the link in my bio to let me know your goals and we can have a chat to see how I can help you @energiseonlinecoaching 🤎 #scaleweightfluctuates #preperiodbloat #femaleempowerment #realnessinfitness #realwomenrealresults

Yep, luteal phase is the worst. My skin also becomes worse, breakouts and redness. And the low mood/energy on top of everything else.

👏💕 this is so educational , sometimes I think I’m putting on weight within a week especially around my belly , it can be so frustrating wondering why …but I never think about the hormonal or menstrual cycle side of things !
