I would say Nia, if* she was not* a nurse. Several of my exes have been nurses. No. Never again, unless she's a holistic* nurse.

When you step into someone’s home- look for those little details that tell a story. I have been interiors obsessed since before I can remember. It didn’t happen for me when I first became a homeowner, or a renter, or overnight. I have just always dreamed of homes. A long time ago I knew the type of home I wanted- something late Victorian or craftsman with a big porch, creaky wooden floors, and tales to tell. I actually grew up in a lovely new build in America but vowed as an adult that I would live in an old home. Well then I adulted and got a new build 😂. I’m just too practical. I also at some point moved across an ocean to where architecture and interiors are SLIGHTLY different. If you’re seeing this in America you know this style of architrave and window casing in homes are very common. Not as common or widespread in the UK, especially in a standard home like mine. Side note- “what are architraves?”. If you aren’t a carpenter and you’ve never had to install one you may not know. Simply put, it’s the detailing around a door frame. Window casing is the same thing but for windows. Anyway, turns out the window casing and architrave style I wanted cannot be found easily “off the shelf”… maybe somewhere specialist but not via a quick google. So, I decided to design, source, and build these myself. It took much longer than I thought. There was trial and error along the way and I learned a lot. BUT was it worth it? These little details make my home feel like home. And I love that I can feel like I’m living in my American Victorian farmhouse in Bucks County, PA or little craftsman bungalow in Portland, OR, only I’m nestled in the English countryside (another vision from my childhood moodboard). 11 year old Sara is smiling right now ☺️. Would you change out your architraves or add little details like this into your home? #DIY #newconstruction #homedetails #architrave #windows #myhomestyle #interiorinspiration #homedecoration #uknewbuild #diyonabudget #mydailyrenovation #homerenovation #storyofmyhome #itsallinthedetails #countrystyle #homeimprovement
