@thesidingguy_: In my entire 20 something year career I’ve never had to pay for trash disposal. During the first few years my suppliers offered bins for free disposal as long as you purchased the siding from them. Then for a number of years when I operated several crews, I had a shop that I operated out of with garbage bins for the shop owner’s use. This is the first time I’ve had to pay for construction trash disposal (other than renting a garbage been at my own house for doing my roof a few years ago) so I had no idea what to expect for cost. It was $20 CAD plus $1 tax. Do you include trash disposal fees in your quotes? I have always had a trash disposal line item on all of my estimates/invoice regardless of whether I have to pay for it or not. A general rule of thumb I have when doing estimates for my jobs is “If I have to pay someone to do it, then I have to charge a minimum of that labour amount plus markup.” Many people going out on their own don’t realize that you have to up charge for overhead like insurance, trash, fuel, time in picking up material, delivery costs etc. You have to think worst case scenarios. If you get hurt and can’t do the job, then you should still be able to sub out the job and make money on it, or else you aren’t operating like a true profitable business. I hope that these few tips from my years of operating a business helps at least one person, or causes you to think about how you quote jobs. Thanks for watching and following along my journey.

I have a “clean up and landfill related costs” I always have something in that line. Depending on the job will determine how much I need to allot for
