microcontroller inside that turns the lights on right to left but remembers the order in which the switches turn on to assign them to each bulb. so you can then turn off the individual bulbs with the new assigned ordering of the switches. once all the switches are off the order will reset and the first switch will always turn on the right to left bulb.

It’s not a white light cause how would they go red across if it was a white bulb it would just do the one in front of it but it’s not always doing that

There’s a reason why after making any changes, he always turns the bulbs on from right to left no matter the color. It programs the switches.
