I was so shocked that my last video gained so much traction. But I am even more shocked that so many mums have gone through the same things that I have. More importantly, there are mums still going through it right now. Mums that are worried that if they say how they are truly feeling, that their baby is going to get taken away from them. I can’t stress enough - this isn’t the case. The fact you are worried shows how much you care, and you deserve the right to be listened to and for the thoughts and feelings that you are having, to be helped and taken care of in whichever way suits you. I feel this journey is going to continue taking me down a road where I need to better educate health professionals in asking the right questions and the importance of listening! I also believe that raising awareness with new mums and saying that it’s okay to speak up and be honest about how you are feeling, will take the right steps to ensuring better maternal mental health. If you are in the thick of it within your postpartum journey, know there is help out there and don’t take no for an answer if you know you are not okay! Ask to speak to your doctor, ask to be referred to your perinatal mental health team, or find your local crisis team. And if it is really bad, then please call 999 or go to A&E. You have got this mama 🤍 Follow if you want to join me in my journey in raising awareness and making us mums feel seen and heard. The more noise we can make, the better it will be for us all. 💪🏻 #maternalmentalhealth #postpartum #postpartumpsychosis #postpartumdepresssion #MentalHealth #motherandbabyunit #postnatal #fyp
