How your horse feels when dumped at the kill pen auction. It’s not a place they just settle into, it’s not a calm reassuring environment. It carries such a high stress, heavy anxiety…it’s just a HEAVY place. It’s exhausting. Traders and flippers, another constant at this auction. Known rescues get bid up. It’s just their game, it’s sad because all we try to do is save those who need us, any horse at this auction could use help. The horses suffer, we suffer. We operate solely on donations, so being bid up is just a gut punch. We need to raise enough to do right by them when they arrive here, not just the bid up bail and transport. With this said, our original goal is just over enough to cover the bail. We simply put just need to raise as much as we possibly can. Raising funds for his initial vetting is helpful and much needed. Setting them up for success is so important. After the initial save of an equine it’s extremely hard to fundraise for certain day to day or maintenance items.
