Not to excuse what Jonathan did in S1, but I don't think he truly saw Nancy or anyone in that house as a person. We learn pretty early on that he's weird, he's a weirdo who doesn't fit in and doesn't want to fit in. He's his own main character and everyone around him and at school are just mindless NPCs. That's clear from the way he talks to Nancy at first when they team up. For him, seeing Nancy at the moment wasn't watching his schoolmate like a creep, he was basically watching a movie and taking screenshots. He has this mindset even in S2 and Nancy is the one who helps him break out of it. And I really think that's what did him the most disservice because once he stops being a weirdo, he loses a lot of what made his character interesting. He has had almost no development in S3 and went through a character assassination in S4. I think they messed his character up, he basically became just Nancy's boyfriend, even though I like what they did for each other's development

and people who think steve “did nothing wrong” in season 1 seem to forget that he was homophobic and called jonathan a slur and made fun of will’s death. Yes he’s a better person now and I want to like him but the glazers make me like him less.

their excuses are ALWAYS “tommy did it and steve went to clean it” but tommy wouldn’t have done it if it weren’t for steve not to mention he doubled down and only went to remove it once he knew he was losing her (and he dragged a presumably dead 11 year old because he was pissed idc that’s unforgivable to me)

What Jonathan did was creepy but what Steve did was freaking rude and disrespectful. In my opinion i’d rather have someone take a picture of me in my bra then tell the whole town i’m a slut.

i don’t dislike either of them, and i think both of them deserved forgiveness. however, when it comes to steve, yes he stood by and let his friends do the spray paint, but he regretted it literally an hour later. he also went to apologize to jonathan without even knowing nancy was there. he was rightfully upset about nancy hanging out with a guy he perceived as a threat to her when they were dating at that time. the only actually bad thing he did was saying homophobic and insensitive things to jonathan before their fight. which again, he was obviously regretful about.

mind you, his girl wasnt even stolen, Steve just tried to climb through her window and saw something that was taken out of context and he never even asked or given her the benefit of the doubt
