I gotta be honest I’m terrified. I’m terrified for the young girls who spend hours and hours on their phone scrolling and seeing what I saw in magazines in the early 2000s… “heroin chic” they called it. I’m terrified because all I see at literally every corner of the internet and on TV & in commercials is about weight loss. I’m terrified because it’s becoming normalized for women who are already a size 2 to get on these medications just to reach a size 0. I’m terrified because while the pressure for women to be thin has always been prevalent, I really thought we had made some improvements with helping women understand that our sole purpose on this planet is not to be the smallest versions of ourselves. I’m terrified because I see myself at 16, developing an ED and we didn’t even have social media back then. I’m terrified because even as someone who has spent their life for the past 7 years dedicated to helping women have a healthier relationship with food in their body. I’VE even noticed thoughts creeping in.. and if they’re getting to me??? Then I can’t even imagine how loud the voices are in other women’s heads, & especially in young girl’s heads. And I want to make it crystal clear I am NOT shaming people on these medications. I recognize they have been life changing for the people who need it. I’m just terrified for how the marketing, the media, and our obsession with thinness is being normalized again. #ditchdietculture #joyfulmovement #selflove #normalizenormalbodies #foodfreedom
