Most people hear “94% tax rate” and think it means taking almost all of someone’s paycheck. But that’s not how it works. Back when we taxed ultra-wealthy people at 94%, it only applied to money they made after hitting a massive income threshold — like over $2.5 million a year in today’s money. So no, nobody’s taking 94% of your paycheck. Meanwhile today, billionaires often pay a lower tax rate than teachers. Why? Because they don’t make their money from salaries like the rest of us. They grow their wealth through stocks, assets, and loopholes that let them report only a tiny slice of what they really earn. They can live off loans backed by their wealth (which aren’t taxed), delay paying taxes on stocks until they sell, and use legal tricks to avoid counting most of their money as “income.” The result? A billionaire who makes $6 billion might only pay taxes on $200,000. That’s about the same as a teacher — except the teacher pays on all of their income. We did it right once. In the 1950s and 60s, we taxed the richest Americans at fair, steep rates — and the economy grew like crazy. Middle-class families could afford homes, schools were funded, and we built things that lasted. The truth is, this country worked when the ultra-rich actually paid their share. #frizzzz #everythingyouknowisalie #america #capitalism #taxtherich #TikTokLearningCampaign #ushistory
