When first deciding to adopt, the scariest part for us was wondering who our child's birth mom would be. Who would we be inviting into our lives? Into our child's life? Into our family? But for the first time in a long time, we decided to let go and give it to God. If it was meant to be, it would be. And trusting Him with the one thing we wanted most in this world was the hardest thing we've ever done. We had just four weeks before she was born to get to know her birth mom. It felt like no time at all. But oh, how quickly we loved her. How naturally she fit into our lives. How clearly it felt orchestrated by God. When we met her in person, I remember going back to the hotel & sobbing to Nate bc I couldn't imagine saying goodbye. I loved her so deeply already. Those days leading up to Monrowe's birth became some of the most sacred days of my life. She didn't feel like someone new-she felt like someone who had been missing from our lives all along. In that delivery room, when Monrowe was born, I held her birth mom and her godmother & just wept. I thanked God that it was them. That He had not only given us a daughter but had also given us them. Her birth mom has shown me what unconditional love looks like, what unwavering faith means, & how to truly trust God. from wanting a closed adoption to crying as we left, wondering how we could possibly go w/out seeing her every day. We love her. She changed my heart. She changed our life. & now, I am so blessed to call her our family. God knew what He was doing all along.In the years I doubted, the nights I begged Him.
