RDL vs. SLDL…what’s the difference? 🤨 hint: it’s all about how much you bend your knees! ALSO I’m wearing all @Paragon Fitwear here - you can use c0de “KELSXO” to save 10% (ad) MORE GLUTES - Romanian Deadlift (RDL) ✨ - Knees are soft but not locked - Hips push back while keeping the spine neutral - Hips push back as far as they can go naturally, like you’re pushing a car door closed with your glutes! 🚘 - Focus is on maintaining tension in the glutes - Great for glute development and hip hinge mechanics • For the RDL, you can see that I push my hips back while lowering the weights, which causes a deeper knee bend. At the bottom of the movement, there’s significant knee bend. MORE HAMSTRINGS - Stiff-Leg Deadlift (SLDL) ✨ - Legs stay more extended with minimal knee bend - You’ll feel a deeper stretch in the hamstrings - Range of motion typically increases slightly due to the straighter legs - Better for emphasizing hamstring length and tension • For the SLDL, you can see that I try to keep my knees as straight as possible & don’t push my hips back as much as the RDL. At the bottom of the movement, there’s barely any knee bend. Both are hip hinge movements, but small setup differences can shift the muscle bias.
