Literally draw reins can be the best tool or the worst. When used properly to encourage the horse it can do wonders. I prefer chambons

I mean waterfords create several distinct pressure points instead of even pressure and can grab and twist the tongue. Not the nicest but not the worst

Someone just said waterfords aren’t soft. They may not be a snaffle but they are almost a liquid type bit there is no harsh movements to them

every horse has different needs. any bit or bridle is a tool until used improperly. my horse needs a waterford. doesn’t mean i’m abusing him :)
