Disembodied Tyrant has been making waves in the Deathcore scene, and their latest EP, The Tower: Part 1, dropped on September 10, 2024, with a ferocious energy. My favorite track from the EP is Malphasian, which stands out with its unique blend of influences and raw intensity. The song starts with atmospheric percussion, strings, and a haunting chant that feels inspired by bands like Wardruna or Heilung. This sets an eerie tone before Blake’s crushing vocals take over. The pace is slower than typical Deathcore at first, relying on steady, chugging riffs, with Blake’s growls subtly backed by an ethereal choir. Everything changes at the breakdown. The command to “Begin” unleashes a barrage of speed and chaos, blending blistering beats with dubstep-like sampling. It’s a jaw-dropping moment that elevates the track to another level, raining down pure sonic destruction.
